Regular cleaning can be accomplished by simply washing the mats with mild soap and water using a medium- to stiff-bristled brush. Boat soap or other mild detergent and a garden hose work well to quickly get your mat back in pristine condition.

Although MarineMat is stain resistant, certain substances, such as food, wine, fish blood, or grease may stain the mats if they are left in contact for an extended period of time. It is always best to clean any spills as soon as possible. Work one of our recommended cleaners into the stain with a medium- or stiff-bristled brush, brushing with the grain texture, and rinse with a hose to finish.

Material Note

MarineMat foam has a memory. If you notice an indent in the mats when you remove your cover from an area where something with some weight has been sitting for an extended period, that mat will rebound back to its original shape over a short period of time.

Refracted Light

Much like a magnifying glass, certain things on a boat can cause focused light which can cause blushing or burning of the surface on your MarineMat. This is a very rare occurrence while actually using the PWC, but if you leave your PWC on a dock, lift, or trailer while the sun is at the correct angle, this can occur. The best way to avoid this is to cover your PWC when you are not using it.  If this happens to your mats, they are not ruined. The damage usually looks like a dark wet spot, and over time this will blend or weather back into the rest of the mat area and become less noticeable.

Things to Avoid

• Sharp objects like knives or tools dragging across the surface.

• Pressure washing, due to the risk of shredding or cutting the mats.

• Extended contact with petroleum-based products. This can cause staining that may not be easily removed.

• Leaving brightly colored mats exposed for long periods of time.  Red traction mats may fade if left uncovered while not in use.
